CHARACTERS PLAYED: Feanor | Tolkien
CHARACTER INFORMATION
NAME: Eru Ilúvatar
CANON: Tolkien
AGE: Older than the universe.
CANON POINT: Kind of doesn't apply because he knows all, but for game purposes he's from beginning of the Fourth Age [Age of Men]
BACKGROUND: 1 and 2
Eru literally created everything in the beginning. No, really. He spoke and made the immaterial universe, and created the Ainur out of aspects of his mind (the Ainur later become the Valar and the Maiar). They sang to him, learning to work together. He sang his first theme of what would happen (making Eä, the material universe), they expanded on it at his command. The first Ainur he made, mightiest of all (Melkor), would go off and come back from the Void and started a counter theme, which he allowed for a while before adjusting it with a second theme. Melkor didn't stop, so Eru made a third theme that swept Melkor's out of the way with power and persistence.
With that third theme, he created Arda (the world) where there'd been nothing but sound before, and took the Ainur there and showed them what he'd made for them as a consequence so they would see what they had done. Arda was a world made for the Children of Ilúvatar (Elves and Men). Room was made for those that were made by the Ainur and accepted by Eru (Dwarves, Ents, and Eagles, for example), but only those he accepted were allowed life. Otherwise the things created would only be puppets and not actually alive.
He takes a lower keyed (if still pivotal) role in the actual ongoings of Arda, which is easily broken into what have become known as 'Ages'. There are four that are spoken of (to various degrees of detail) beyond the Times of the Lamps and the Trees (where the universe was made and mapped out in preparation for Arda itself). In the Year of the Trees he created and woke the Elves and in the First Age, Men (which lead to literally everything else). With the Second Age he drowned Númenor and buried the last Númenórean king and his army when they reached the Undying Lands (also called Aman or the Blessed Realm) when he removed the Undying Lands from Arda (while keeping it intact, it simply can only be accessed by the remnants of Elves left behind, and then only in certain ways), and made Arda round. In the Third Age, when the Valar cannot bring Gandalf back but the Maian is still needed, Eru resurrects him himself to send him back stronger than before (in which Gandalf went on to play out the rest of his role in Middle-Earth).
There are also hints here and there that he has his hand in the workings of Arda in a very subtle way, but never confirmed. He far prefers leaving the running of Arda to the Ainur, and tasked them to it's keeping. Rumor has it that there will be one last theme sung at the end of days to save his Children and unite the Ainur and the Children of Ilúvatar in a song even more powerful than that of Creation, but that has not been written.
Religion revolving around Eru:
Worship: He is worshipped, but scarcely for he is considered too holy to invoke playfully or without meaning to in every way. There are celebrations and feasts in his name each harvest. He's considered to be apart from the affairs of Arda, and always alone.
Naming: Fëanor invoked his name when he made his Oath to reclaim the Silmarils Melkor (then Morgoth) stole. The Last Alliance of Men and Elves were bound together through an oath in his name.
INCENTIVE/FIT:
Incentive - Vacation from his children and their squabbles and wanting him to help fix everything.
Fit - He has no intention of having sex, but has no problem with affection such as hugs and holding hands, fatherly kisses to cheeks and heads.
SAMPLES: 1 and 2
ANYTHING ELSE?
Eru is omniscient and omnipotent.
He's a spirit, though for game purposes he will take on a physical form - one that has him appear human, as an old man.
He does not need to sleep or eat, though can when he so chooses.
Limit suggestions:
Creation: nothing larger than a small house, nothing fully sentient.
Omnscient: kept just to his own realm.
Omnipotent: see creation section, and restrained to Ainur abilities: increased strength, enhanced senses, poisons/drugs/alcohol don't affect him.
Eru and Feanor will not interact (without a second player, and even then not often) due to Eru's nature of not directly affecting what the Ainur and his Children do after he'd led the Ainur to Arda and let them loose to deal with their own doings, and Feanor not wishing to have anything to do with the Creator.
